The system: mobile measurement in research and production

IF-Portable is an optical 3D micro coordinate measurement device for mobile measurement of large measurement areas and components. The system is used for form and roughness measurement of curved and plane geometries. As a standard, IF-Portable covers measurement areas with dimensions of up to (mm) 50x50x19. The mobile form measurement device and roughness measurement device delivers even under production conditions stable, traceable and repeatable results.

The function: roughness plus form measurement on large components

IF-Portable measures surface roughness and form of a component. The system is simple, handy and portable. Also with components with steep flanks or small radii and angles, users achieve a vertical resolution of up to 10nm. This high measurement accuracy is also achieved in an environment with temperature fluctuations and vibrations. The measurement speed lies, depending on the measurement area, within the range of only a few seconds.

The benefits: higher measurement accuracy via automation

The change of objectives is carried out with a nosepiece. This is how users increase the accuracy of their measurements, as no adjustments or time consuming recalibrations are necessary. Options for easy automation of measurement tasks enhance process reliability, efficiency and user friendliness. The exceptionally large working distance enables high resolution measurement of varying component forms and types. In addition IF-Portable provides the registered true color information with each measurement value.

The applications: measurement of turbines, body types and steel

IF-Portable is applicable for all relevant materials in production. This also includes composite materials with various surface characteristics and reflection properties. IF-Portable combines form and roughness measurement of components. The measurements of turbine blades, rotor blades, steel and body type surfaces are traditional applications. Results are repeatable, traceable and verifiably accurate. In print industry the IF-Portable is used for cup measurement on platens.

The technology: Focus-Variation for area based surface measurement

IF-Portable is based on Focus-Variation. The optical technology delivers a measurement point density of up to 100 mil measure points. This enables surface measurement of large measurement areas and volumes. As an area based technology, Focus-Variation is already conforming to EN ISO 25178 for area based surface characterization. Every measurement value automatically includes information for estimating the measurement uncertainty.
