GF AgieCharmilles and Alicona announce cooperation

Leading supplier in precision machining makes Alicona to worldwide partner in all 3D surface measurement issues


GF AgieCharmilles (GF AC), leading supplier of high precision machines and automation services, and Alicona, provider for optical 3D surface measurement systems, have established a worldwide collaboration. Within this association, Alicona is the worldwide partner for all 3D surface measurement issues of GF AC. The partnership was founded in GF AgieCharmilles’ business field 3D laser texturing and will be continued in all technology areas of the Swiss machining and automation supplier. This includes 3D surface and micro shape measurement in EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), HSM (High Speed Milling) as well as HPM (High Performance Milling).

The cooperation was established when GF AgieCharmilles was evaluating solutions for laser texturing. GF AC was looking for a solution to scan and digitalize natural texture, e.g. leather and silk. This texture should then be reproduced on a mold. With InfiniteFocus, GF AgieCharmilles managed to measure the natural surface and to design a digitalized 3D model of the real pattern. This was then applied to a mold throughout laser engraving machines.

With InfiniteFocus, GF AgieCharmilles is able to offer customers solutions to master their entire process chain, from the natural texture up to the final part. Other than competitors, the supplier of high precision machines provides both, the possibility to digitize requested surfaces and high precision laser texturing machines.

Alicona offers optical 3d surface measurement systems for quality assurance in research and production. Core competence is the measurement of roughness and form also across large measurement areas and volumes.
